Found/Invented Instrument Guidelines

Parameter:

Cannot be any type of school or office supply such as a pen, pencil paper, stapler, etc.

Cannot be an electronic device such as a calculator, cellphone, pager, beeper, any type of portable music players, watch, etc.

Cannot be any item that is already not allowed in school, such as a knife, skateboard, etc.

Cannot be anything that is already not allowed in the classroom, such as sports/athletic equipment, etc.

Cannot be anything alive….seriously.

Cannot be anything that was once alive, and is now dead.

Cannot be any item that you find in the music classroom or in school-it must be something brought from home. For example, you will not be allowed to use an empty juice can you found in the hallway two minutes before music class. This ensures that finding your instrument is homework.

You need to put some time and thought into this if you expect a positive outcome- which would be high marks for your instrument and corresponding composition.

When choosing your instrument, keep in mind the following things:

Size, portability and pack-ability…you need to be able to bring this item to school, keep it into your locker, bring it to class, and store it in class.

Don’t pick something that is too hard to play or create sound with-why make it harder on yourself?

Remember: You need to be able to make at least four sounds (pitched or otherwise) with your instrument.

Have fun with this one!!!!!!
